Just thought i would write a post about something that has been bothering me for a while.

My Funkwhale takes a long time just loading pages. It can take up to a minute or longer to load a simple page, that is if it loads without errors. I get errors on loading, errors when i try to upload music, errors when i try to edit, and so on… It can take me up to 20 minutes to finally get a song uploaded to my Funkwhale.. (EDIT: At the moment i can’t publish any new tracks.)

In general Funkwhale is not a user friendly experience, in fact i find it frustrating to use and i am considering not renewing my instance when the time is up for the next payment.

Next to Funkwhale i am also running a PeerTube. PeerTube is obviously not made for publishing (audio) music, however it is very user friendly, it loads lightening fast, uploading a video is very fast and is in general a much better and easier experience.
Since PeerTube is not really made for publishing (audio) music, the downside is i have to make videos for each song instead, which i am already doing because i create (simple) lyric videos for each song. But obviously creating a video takes a lot more time than just uploading the audio files for an album.
PeerTube is also very active, while the Funkwhale devs on the other hand are cloaked in silence. Which does not give me very much confidence in (any future) development.

Renting these instances is not cheap and when it is a pain in the ass to use, i am not sure i want to renew my Funkwhale.
Instead i might just continue using PeerTube to publish my music and cancel my Funkwhale.
I paid for a full year in advance so the Funkwhale isn’t going anywhere yet, this is just a heads-up that i might be ending the Funkwhale and focus on just a PeerTube channel for publishing my music.
